Kohima, Jan. 14 (EMN): Statistics available on the Chief Minister Dashboard draws a positive figure in the sector of pregnant women and child healthcare. Some other updates include figures on National Rural Livelihood Mission, Soil Health Card cycle- I, Mid Day Meal, Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin.
Against previous year’s record, as of Jan 13 this year, the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) scheme has improved by the thousands. Launched in Oct. 1997, the RCH programme is a primary subcomponent of NRHM and aims at improving the health outcome indicators, particularly Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Ratio by improving or enabling routine immunisation.
The estimated pregnant women registered were 13,352 in last October. However, the number has increased noticeably as of Jan. 13 with the number of registered estimated pregnant women as much as 18,335. At the level of pregnant women registered, the number has increased by almost two percent, from 4,942 (37.01%) in October last year to 7,145 (38.97%) on Jan. 13, 2019.
The state-wise record showed that Dimapur district has the highest number of estimated pregnant women with 3,838. Mon district stood second with 2,819, and Kohima district in the third place with 2,208. The dashboard also recorded Kiphire distirct as having the lowest number of estimated pregnant women with 612; followed by Longleng district (670).
Some of the lowest registered pregnant women districts included Longleng (141), Phek (215), and Zunheboto (237). Interestingly, Kiphire district had more number of registered (642) compared to the estimated number of women.
As of Jan. 13, the estimated children (EC) is 16,448, while the previous figure was 11,976 (October 2018), resulting an increase of 4, 472 children within the last two months. The total registered of the children is 8,347 (50. 75%) as against the previous total of 5,864 (48.96%).
The wide gap between the estimated children and registered children (RC) can be figured out in three major districts--Dimapur, Kohima, and Mokokchung. Among the trio, Dimapur district has the widest distance with 3,427 (EC) and 886 (total RC), followed by Mokokchung district of 1,538 (EC) and 475 (RC) and the state capital Kohima with 1,994 (EC) and 990 (RC). Districts such as Wokha and Kiphire tallied at both the estimated children and registered children with 718 and 634; 554 and 612 respectively.
‘Major health initiative’
The Ministry of Family and Health Welfare has launched the national health programme--Ayushman Bharat (AB) as a shade to two other health initiatives--National Health Protection Mission/Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (NHPM/PMJAY) and Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs). In line with this national health scheme, the department of Health and Welfare had launched AB-PMJAY across the state in September. The HWCs were inaugurated at places like Dimapur and Kohima.
One of the main services of the HWCs include pregnancy and child-birth care, childhood care, RCH and other related healthcares. Meanwhile, the AB-PMJAY envisages to provide free secondary and tertiary hospitalisation to an approximate 50 cr. beneficiaries, covering up to INR 5 lakh per family per year.
The poverty alleviation flagship programme undertaken by the ministry of Rural Development-- National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) envisioned providing self-employment opportunity in terms of Self Help Group (SHG) to the rural poor.
Mon district has the highest number of SHGs in Nagaland with 799 groups and a total of 7,963 SHG members, calculating nine to ten members each per group. Dimapur (792) and Phek (766) constituted the second and third districts with the highest SHGs respectively. Meanwhile, the total number of SHGs in Nagaland is 5,661; and 50,712 SHG members.
The window also showed that Kohima district’s SHGs is the highest recipient of the revolving fund (RF) with (508), followed by Dimapur district with 491 and Wokha district (423). Apparently, Peren and Tuensang districts do not have any SHGs, as per the figures.
In the cycle one of the Soil Health Card, the state government has collected 33, 423 (100 %) samples of soil health as of Jan. 7. All these samples have been tested, while the test result entry was only 19, 397 (58.03%). The figure of the samples collected, sample tested and test entry result displayed a consistent nature from Nov. 30 2018 till Jan. 7. It may be mentioned that the soil health card is used to access the current status, or and indicators of soil health. The SHC scheme is a flagship programme undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The figure for the Mid Day Meal Automated Reporting & Management System (MDM ARMS) is more or less negative. With schools having a winter break in the state, the enrolment showed zero according to the dashboard from Jan. 8-13. Amusingly, in the same table, the meal served on Jan. 9 was 255. The total number of schools was 1,225.
