Friends of 80 plus celebrates 20th foundation day

  • KOHIMA — Friends of 80 Plus in Kohima village celebrated its 20th foundation day at Marocchino Hall of Christ the King Church in Kohima village on Wednesday.

  • Addressing the programme, president of the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO), Tepul Hepovi, expressed delight on the initiative of honouring the elders, which has attained 20 years milestone. Seeing a good number of elders present on the occasion, he invoked God’s blessings for good health and long life.

  • Hepovi extolled the leadership of Kohima village and the elders for upholding unity and integrity to which he has attributed the traits to their trailblazing spirit. He also recounted how the elders of Kohima village embraced Christianity and spread the Gospel in neighbouring areas.

  • He also acknowledged the elders of Kohima village for giving their lands to establish the state capital, which now houses different communities in a vast and beautiful area.

  • Crediting elders as the source of knowledge and blessings in guiding the society thus far, he noted that the community has witnessed growth and development. The SAPO president also called upon the elders to share and pass on their knowledge to the younger generation without reservation.

  • He added that educational degree without wisdom and experience are incomplete.

  • In his report, Kevitsu Yhome informed that there are a total of 228 members including 81 males and 147 females from Kohima village who are 80 years and above.

  • Among the four Khels, Lhisemia has 99 members, Dapfhutsumia has 53 members, Tsutounuomia has 44 members and Pfuchatsumia has 32 members.

  • Rev. Khrieneilie Sachü, senior pastor of BRCK, led the 80 Plus members in prayer for the village, while a folk song was presented by Khriezobeinuo Kire and company.

  • Khrietuo Pienyü led the programme, while Rev. Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachü, pastor of Khedi Baptist Kehou, also took part in the programme.

  • Following the formal function, the older persons were served lunch. They were also presented with gifts besides conducting a health camp.
