Titabar, Dec 19: The fourteenth session of Friendly Volleyball Tournament Titabar (Assam) and Changpang (Nagaland) Circle commenced today at MRSHS School Playground in Titabar, Assam.
Organised by Border Peace Coordination Committee, comprising members from both the states, 28 teams (men and women) are competing in the two day event, which will conclude tomorrow. Eight teams are from Changpang circle of Nagaland while 20 are from Assam.
Gracing the inaugural session, Nagaland Football Coaches Association President Roko Angami lauded the continued efforts put in by the organisers in bringing together players from both sides to build up people to people contact.
He expressed hope that through such sporting competition, the border villages in Assam and Nagaland will foster better understanding and cordial relationship and also be harbinger of peace and unity.
He also called upon the villagers on both sides to uphold the age old neighbourly relationship for peaceful coexistence.Roko was accompanied by NPF Secretary Education, Imtiyapang Ao and Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) joint secretary Atsizo Soru.
Chief Advisor of All Assam Students’ Union and Adviser NESO, Dr. Samujjal Kr. Bhattacharya along with others were also present during the inaugural session.
