- DIMAPUR — Expressing discontent with the
leadership of the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), the
Sümi Hoho has declared that it will monitor and supervise the Foothills Road
project within Sümi-inhabited areas.
- In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Sümu Hoho recalled
that it had taken serious note of the press statement issued by NFHRCC on
February 28 targeting Minister for Roads & Bridges, G Kaito Aye.
- “In an effort to address this concern, the SH engaged with
NFHRCC leaders, urging them to take appropriate corrective measures. However,
after these efforts did not yield the desired outcome, the SH issued a press
statement on March 13, 2025, through Nagaland dailies, seeking an apology from
the NFHRCC.
- “In response, the NFHRCC invited the SH for a meeting on
March 22, 2025, to discuss the issue, during which the SH clearly articulated
its stance.
- Surprisingly, the press statement released by the NFHRCC after the
March 22 meeting contradicted the discussions held during the meeting. While
the SH fully supports the objectives of the NFHRCC, this development has
resulted in discontentment regarding its leadership,” the statement read.
- Also, the Sümi Hoho urged Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Kaito
Aye to initiate the construction of the Foothills Road at the earliest “as the
project is of critical importance to the people of Nagaland”.
