Dimapur, Feb. 7 (EMN): Konyak Baptist churches under the banner of the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) on Wed. convinced “various political parties within Konyak soil” to adopt certain commitments in relation to the Nagaland assembly elections.
According to a statement from the KBBB, a meeting among representatives of various political parties, and community organisations the Konyak Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, Konyak Students’ Union and the KBBB clean election committee was held on Wed. at the mission centre in Mon town to discuss conducting ‘free, far and clean election.’
The meeting ‘unanimously’ adopted four resolutions: (Given verbatim)
Clean election: That, no party shall indulge in any anti social activities/unlawful act or any means of forceful aggression against any individual/household/groups. Election code of conduct should be strictly adhered (sic).
Mutual respect and dignity: That, in order to uphold mutual respect and dignity amongst various political groups, no party shall act as an obstacle or create any disturbances towards any intending/opponent candidates/party workers. All political parties should restrain/refrain from filing complain or creating disturbances during nomination, scrutiny process, polling day to till vote counting day.
Precaution and prudence: All political parties should ensure that, no election related incident occurs aftermath 27th Feb 2018. All political parties should keenly ensure for peaceful atmosphere.
Caution: In event of non-adherence or violation of the above points, respective/concern political party functionary/candidate shall be held solely responsible.
