Kohima, April 29 (EMN): With the recognition of Oking Hospital, Kohima as the Smile Train Centre, patients suffering with cleft lips and palate in Nagaland and neighboring states including Myanmar country will be undergoing free surgery today at Oking Hospital, Kohima.
Managing director of Oking Hospital, Dr. Vikethonyii Kesiezie, said doctors from Shija Group of Hospital, Imphal will perform the surgery under Smile Train Mission Nagaland. He also informed that most patients from remote areas of Nagaland including a patient from Myanmar were admitted for surgery.Meanwhile, the Smile Train India team led by Sheila Koyyana, program manager, India today inspected Oking Hospital. She said ‘Smile Train’ India had recognized Oking Hospital as the first partner in Nagaland for conducting safe operations to cure cleft lip and palate under Mission Nagaland of Shija Group of Hospitals, Imphal.
With the recognition, she was optimistic that Smile Train India partnership with Oking Hospital, Kohima will help in reaching out to ever increasing numbers of cleft lips and palate in Nagaland. Creating awareness campaigns and educates people about clefts and the free cleft surgery programs will immensely reduce the stigma and help thousands of patients, she added.
