Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The Franciscan Congregation of St. Clare (FCC) Sisters has inducted eight new members namely Rina Theresa, Nencha Mary Baite, Rosna Baskey, Venes Yekuto and Regina Munda at San Damiano Novitiate House in Medizephema on October 28.
Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, officiated the ceremony in the presence of Rev. Dr. Joseph Aind, Bishop of Dibrugarh, priests, Sr. Lilly Maria, FCC Provincial Superior, all her councillors, parents and relatives of the sisters, and faithful from Manipur, Assam and Dimapur.
The new sisters were accompanied by their parents to the altar in procession. Sr. Lilly, accorded the words of welcome to the main celebrant, parish priests, sisters, parents and invited guests. She also highlighted on the importance of the day and the charism of the congregation. There was lighting of the lamp, removable of the traditional attires and receiving blessing from parents before the Holy Mass.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rev. James, congratulated the sisters for their courage and determination to choose to live the religious life. During his homily, Bishop Joseph reflected on the word of God based on creation story. He said, ‘it is true love that we are created in His image and likeness.’ He also exhorted the sisters to be faithful by responding the love of God in living the evangelical counsel.
He also urged the newly professed sisters to be strong in their commitment in the Lord Jesus and trust him profoundly. He recommended them to be strengthened in their deep personal prayer and in the Eucharist.
The choir by the aspirants of FCC added liveliness and meaning to the celebration. Rev. Sr. Iren Yanthan, FCC, anchored the ceremony of the Holy mass. During the short felicitation programme, special melodious songs and rhythmic steps were performed by the candidates. Sr. VenesYekuto proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the new sisters.
