Dimapur, March 25
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he ongoing developmental contribution of the Dimapur Municipal Council to the infrastructure of the commercial town continues. A fourth stretch of a road in the town that repaired by the municipal council has been inaugurated and opened to the public.
On Wednesday, the road along Netaji colony near Dimapur Railway Station was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome. The developmental initiative of the council is being spearheaded by the agency’s chief executive officer Atokhe Aye.
Speaking during the inaugural programme, Deputy Commissioner Yhome said that every individual of the colony should maintain the road. It is easy to blame the government, he said, but most fail to encourage the state ‘when something good is done.’ The administrator has urged the people to appreciate the ‘good things done without criticizing for every small thing.’
Yhome also requested the population of the colony to discuss and find strategies to maintain facilities such as roads and even the train facilities by initiating community activities.
Chief Executive Officer of the DMC, Atokhe Aye also spoke during the program. He said that the ongoing project was successful so far and the workforce of the council was cleaning drainages as well as overseeing maintenance works in and around the town.
The fourth road was inaugurated today while the roads in West Yard and Chatteswari Colony are in progress. Also, a major drive to cleaning the drainage along MP road is in progress.
Aye has appealed the people to maintain the roads and drainages and to increase the lifespan of the facilities. The main reason behind the poor sanitation in the city was ‘because the public in general lacks civic sense,’ he reminded.
Citizens may note here that the road in Netaji colony was left without black-topping for more than 20 years.
