Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): The government of Nagaland, in a meeting on Monday, has decided on four stages towards bringing stranded citizens from outside the state as well as sending persons stranded here back to their home states.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mon, Thavaseelan K informed that a four-phase plan has been decided so that there is “no rush at one go.”
The administrator informed that the first stage would be to send people who are stranded in Nagaland to their respective home states.
The second, he said, was to allow Nagaland citizens who are stranded in other districts to return to their home district.
“The government has already started this exercise and all DCs of each district are collecting the data; it will be shared with the DCs of the respective districts,” Thavaseelan said.
It was also informed that those who wish to go back to their respective districts can do so by their private vehicles. But for those people who do not have transport, the government is planning to arrange buses with a fee. For those who cannot pay the rates, it will either be subsidised or made free.
The third stage, he informed, is to bring back Nagaland citizens stranded in other north-eastern states.
The fourth and final stage would be to bring back Nagaland citizens stranded in other states of the country. “The nodal officers of both states have to agree and arrange for transport on how to go about it,” said the DC, adding that it might be a little more complex for people stranded beyond the Northeast.
