Kohima, Oct. 2 (EMN): At least four teachers have been hospitalised in the last three days while on hunger strike demanding regularisation of their service at Solidarity Park, Kohima.
A member taken to the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima on Saturday relapsed, and was admitted at Oking Hospital where he stayed the night. He was discharged on Sunday and his condition is reportedly stable.
The 2015 batch of All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers' Association (ANATG) have been staging a sit-in since Monday, demanding the government to regularise their services. The protest entered the seventh day on Sunday, including the last four-day hunger strike.
The 1166 teachers on Saturday unanimously decided to submit a representation to the state government rejecting the decision of setting up a High Powered Committee to address the issue.
The representation, signed by the 1166 members, will be submitted to the chief minister on Monday (today), a member of ANATG-2015, Bendangtemsu Ozukum told Eastern Mirror.
Meanwhile, keeping in view of Sunday as a day of rest, the protesting teachers gathered at Solidarity Park and had a time of fellowship.
‘Being teachers, we started with The Lord's Prayer, had a time of sharing and offering where over INR 40,000 was collected. The amount collected will be used for charity works’, Ozukum informed.
The agitating teachers are firm on their stand and are not settling for anything less than service regularisation.
