Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang has asked the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Nagaland branch, whether or not the construction firms working on the four-lane project were complying with the agreement contained in the contract in relation to ‘maintenance of existing road.’
In a letter to the general manager of NHIDCL, Zeliang recalled that the former had informed him of the firms having signed contracts containing an agreement to maintain existing roads. “However, it is surprising to see that condition of the existing road has been badly affected due to ongoing construction works.
“I wish to know from you whether the two firms are complying to (sic) the contract agreement,” the letter read.
He also wanted to know if the firms had sublet the contract to second/third parties. “...if so, the name/s of such party/ies (sic) be furnished for transparency, as discussed in our series of meetings while the undersigned was chief minister,” it stated.
