Four people were injured in a gunpowder explosion at the Sangtam Morung during the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Tuesday.

KOHIMA — Four people sustained injuries after gunpowder suddenly exploded while it was being roasted at the Sangtam Morung during the ongoing Hornbill Festival at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Tuesday.
The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital and are undergoing treatment. Their condition remained unknown at the time of filing this report.
Official sources said an investigation is under way and the cause of the explosion has not yet been established. They confirmed that four individuals were injured and that one of them, who was critically hurt, has been admitted to Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima.
Sources from the Sangtam Union Kohima informed that the four individuals belong to the Konyak tribe and had been outsourced by the union to handle the muzzle-loading gun. They added that no tourists were injured and said the situation has been brought under control.
