DIMAPUR — The
Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), under the North East
Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) other than roads
infrastructure (OTRI), had sanctioned INR 122.35 crore for 10 water supply
projects out of which six projects have been completed while four are ongoing.
The project “providing water supply by gravity to Mon
village and 4 neighbouring villages in Mon district” with department of Power
as the executing department was sanctioned on October 29, 2015 at an approved
cost of INR 15.4667 crore. The project which was scheduled to be completed on
October 31, 2017 is still ongoing. This was reported by DoNER in its online
dashboard.
The total financial expenditure of the project so far was
reported to be INR 13.8212 crore. The financial expenditure for the project as
on March 31, 2024 was INR 13.8212 crore, while financial expenditure from April
1 to December 2024 was nil.
Another project “Providing water supply to Samziuram
village, Peren” with the department of Power as the executing department, which
was sanctioned on November 21, 2017 is stated to be still ongoing.
The project was sanctioned at a cost of INR 18.9316 crore
and was scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2024. For this project, the
financial expenditure as on March 31, 2024 was INR 17.0384 crore and from April
to November 30, 2024 was INR 10.223 crore. Although the approved cost for the
project was INR 18.9316 crore, the total expenditure as reported by DoNER was
INR 27.2614 crore, exceeding the approved cost for the project.
Another project which has exceeded the completion timeline
is “Providing water supply by gravity system to Aboi headquarters and Longching
EAC headquarters in Mon district,” which was sanctioned on December 4, 2017
with December 31, 2019 as the scheduled completion date with the Public Health
and Engineering Department as the executing department.
The project was sanctioned at an approved cost of INR 9.6598
crore. The total expenditure of the project so far was reported to be INR
8.6938 crore with March 31, 2024 as the last month of financial
expenditure.
Falling under the category of “ongoing project” is the
“Development of tourism-related infrastructure at Tuophema tourist village,
Kohima district in Nagaland” with the department of Agriculture and Allied as
the executing department.
The project was sanctioned on September 3, 2019 at a cost of
INR 3.0823 crore and scheduled to be completed by March 31, 2020. However, the
financial expenditure of the project was reported to be INR 3.0823 crore with
expenditure as on March 31, 2024 was reported to be INR 1.2329 crore and from
April1 to November 30, 2024 was reported to be INR 1.8494 crore.
The completed water supply projects are “Augmentation of
water supply at Dimapur,” “Augmentation of water supply at Chen EAC
headquarters, Chenwatnyu village,” “Water supply scheme for Mon and Chui
villages,” “Providing water supply to New Peren district headquarters of
Nagaland” with Public Health Engineering Department as the executing department
for the projects.
“Augmentation of water supply to Wokha town” and “Providing
water supply to 24 villages of Chiephobozou RD block in Nagaland” with the
department of Agriculture & Allied as the executing department has been
completed as per the report.
