Kohima, Aug. 23 (EMN): Former Angami wrestling champion of Dihoma village in Kohima district, Zasituo Tsükrü, who was accused of raping a 24-year old mother of two children, has been granted bail by the court for a period of one month on grounds of medical treatment on August 23.
It was learned that lawyers representing the accused had applied for bail, which previously was denied by the court the previous week. However, on the second time the bail was put forward, the court is said to have granted the bail for a period of one month.
Further, it was learned that the bail was applied on medical grounds recommended by a board of doctors who are said to have stated that the accused needed to undergo medical treatment at the Neigrihms in Shillong. The accused is said to have sustained internal injuries and fractures as he was beaten by angry youths on the night he was apprehended by the D-Khel youths.
The accused was in police custody following the FIR filed against him by a women organization of D Khel on August 4, at the women cell of north police station.
It may be mentioned that 40-year old Zasituo Tsükrü was accused of raping a 24-year old mother of two children in the early hours of August 2 at the victim’s residence located at Kevoliezha, D Khel, in Kohima when she was alone with her children as her husband was away.
The accused reportedly came into the victim’s residence in an ‘inebriated’ condition and threatened and tortured the woman, and subsequently raping her. He was confronted by youths of D khel when he came seeking for forgiveness from the landowners of the victim. In the process, he was beaten up by angry youths.
