  • KOHIMA — Former president of the Eastern Naga Public Organisation (ENPO), Tsapikiu Sangtam, and former president of the Sumi Hoho and Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC), Toniho Yepthomi, have officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday in Dimapur.

  • Announcing their joining through a social media platform, BJP president of Nagaland state, Benjamin Yeptho, stated that Tsapikiu Sangtam’s induction had strengthened the party’s base in Eastern Nagaland.

  • The president stated that the induction took place in the presence of Dr. Sambit Patra, Lok Sabha MP from Puri and BJP national spokesperson as well as northeast coordinator; Anil K Antony, BJP national secretary and in-charge of Meghalaya and Nagaland; Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton; ministers including Jacob Zhimomi and P Paiwang Konyak; advisor Kropol Vitsu; and party core committee members.

  • Yeptho said, “Tsapikiu Sangtam has played a crucial role in facilitating the ENPO solution, advocating for the rights and development of Eastern Nagaland.” He added that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP remains committed to the inclusive development of Nagaland.

  • “The party continues to gain momentum in the state, working towards the vision of a Viksit Nagaland with a focus on peace, progress and prosperity,” he added.

  • Meanwhile in another update, the president announced the joining of former president of Sumi Hoho and Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC), Toniho Yepthomi, thereby strengthening the party’s presence in Zunheboto district.

  • In a social media post, he wrote, “Toniho Yepthomi has been a respected leader and an influential voice in tribal affairs, governance and social development. His vast experience and deep understanding of the socio-political landscape will be invaluable in furthering the BJP’s commitment to inclusive growth and tribal welfare. The BJP continues to expand its reach across Nagaland, gaining the trust of key leaders and grassroots communities.”

  • “Toniho Yepthomi’s joining is a reflection of the people’s faith in the party’s vision for development, unity, and progress. His leadership will be instrumental in strengthening the party’s presence in Zunheboto and beyond,” he added.

  • The president further stated that, “Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP remains dedicated to the holistic development of Nagaland, ensuring economic growth, infrastructure development and tribal empowerment. The party welcomes Toniho Yepthomi and looks forward to working together towards a stronger and more prosperous Nagaland.”
