- DIPHU — The
football fraternity and members of the White Dove Society, a renowned football
club from the late 1990s, paid their last respects to Sing Ronghang, a former
Indian national team player, as his mortal remains were cremated with Karbi
rituals at the Diphu Public cremation ground on April 21.
- Sing, who had brought glory to the district through his
illustrious football career, passed away on April 19 at Faith Hospital in
Dimapur due to complications from diabetes and liver issues.
- Family members, relatives, well-wishers, and the football
community gathered at his residence in Rongmonjir, Diphu, to bid a farewell to
the late sportsman.

- The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong
Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, in his social media post sharing
grief and condolences with the family members, wrote, “A legendary Karbi
footballer who made history representing India on the international stage. This
is a profound loss for Karbi Anglong’s sporting community and society as a
whole. His legacy will forever inspire.”
- Mangal Bey, one of Sing Ronghang's teammates in the White
Dove Society, described him as a gem and a talented footballer. "The
football fraternity and the people of Karbi Anglong are saddened by the loss of
a person like him," Bey said. "The White Dove Society and the
football fraternity will continue to carry forward his legacy."
- On the morning of April 21, Sing's mortal remains were taken
in a procession from his residence in Rongmonjir to the cremation ground, accompanied
by family members, relatives, and well-wishers.
