Kohima, April 1 (EMN): Former Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Imtikumzuk, has been sworn in as parliamentary secretary by Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu today.
Imtikumzuk will take charge of the Information & Public Relations (IPR) department with immediate effect. This was stated in an official notification issued by Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar on April 1.
It has been learnt that Imtikumzuk had submitted his resignation from the post of deputy speaker on March 31 and it was accepted by Speaker Dr. Imtiwapang Aier this morning.However, interestingly, the Cabinet Secretariat notification duly signed by the chief secretary did not mention nor did it acknowledge Imtikumzuk’s resignation, which indicated that he was sworn in to hold a dual post.
The notification read, “In continuation of earlier notification dated 22nd February, 2017 and in exercise of the powers under Rule 5 read with other relevant provisions of the Rules of Executive Business of the Government of Nagaland, the Chief Minister is pleased to appoint Shri. Imtikumzuk, Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly as Parliamentary Secretary, Information and Public Relations in the Government of Nagaland to assist him in discharging the functions of the department, with immediate effect.”
