Alianza FC, Oriental College, Modern college register win

Former champions Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) signaled their entry into the ongoing NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy with a comfortable win against Government Higher Secondary School, Seikhazou held today at Khuochiezie Local Ground, Kohima.
Playing the third match of the day, champions of 1998, KVSU scored two early goals in the first five minutes to send the school team back home.
Taking the GHSS Seikhazou players by surprise, KVSU forward Mhasibituo gave his team the much needed lead in the 3rd minute. As if it was not over yet, the same striker found the net again in the very next minute to make it 2-0.
After the interval, GHSS Seikhazou fought back to level the match, but could not capitalize the opportunities that came their way. The two early goals by KVSU forward Mhasibituo was good enough to send his team to the next round.Earlier in the first match, Alianza FC, Dimapur routed FC United Zhadima with a 2-0 margin. Leading his team from the front, Alianza forward Shelminthung scored twice to take his team to the next round. He scored the first goal in the 11th minute, followed by the second goal in the 39th minute.
In the second match, Oriental College Kohima (OCK) shattered the hopes of Galacticos FC Kohima by 4-1. The OCK fully dominated the first half with three goals. The first came in the 5th minute scored by Peteneizo Kire. On target twice, OCK forward Punüru Neihu gave his team the much needed lead in the 19th and 28th minute.
OCK found the net in the 36th minute through the touch of Berelhu. Trailing four behind, the Galacticos were never in a position to turn the match back to their favour. The only face saving moment for Galacticos came in the 56th minute when their centre forward A Kapani’s target got passed the custodian to make it 4-1.
Playing the last match of the day, the Deputy Commissioner XI, Kohima went down to Modern College, Kohima (MCK) by 2-1. The college team MCK took the first lead in the 18th minute through Seyielhousa. The DC XI were quick enough to find the equalizer in the 21st minute scored by Kethozhapu. However, their happiness was short lived as MCK forward Inoka Achimi netted the second goal for his team in the 24th minute. Modern College will next meet KVSU on September 28.
A total of five players were penalized with yellow cards. Two players from FC Zhadima Neizovolie and Joshua were penalized in the first match, while Vikito Swu of GHSS Seikhazou and Keneinguze of KVSU were also penalized in the third match.
The only player to be penalized with a yellow card in the fourth match was Michael Dul of DC XI, Kohima.
