DIMAPUR — Naga Hoho has issued an appeal to
all Naga national workers and civil society leaders to abide by the principle
of ‘forgive and forget’ and move forward together towards achieving an
honourable and acceptable Naga solution.
“As Christmas approaches, Naga Hoho appeals to the Naga
people to embrace peace and unity, setting aside differences and fostering an
environment of mutual respect and understanding. In the light of the current
environment of ‘broken society,’ the Naga Hoho recognises the urgency of
addressing the situation and emphasises that distrust and mutual suspicion are
never the solution,” read a statement issued on Thursday.
It asserted that to find peace, brotherhood and unity must
be the cornerstones. Durable solutions, it added, emanate from people who work
together.
“This is not for us; this is for our children and the
generations to come. This is the time to talk to each other, not about each
other or against each other. Prove to all and sundry that with the available
opportunities, we can make things happen.
“Show to the rest of the world that indeed, with the spirit
of reconciliation and forgiveness, we can make things easier to chart a better
future for our Naga people,” it stated.
According to the Naga Hoho, the spirit of Christmas “must
lead us to look out for one another and shun any form of manipulative spirit
born out of self-interest.”
