
CL John along with officials of Forest department during the
unveiling of monolith for Oil India Limited funded CSR initiative at Manglumukh
Protection Camp on Friday.
- DIMAPUR — Minister
of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department (DEFCC), CL John, on
Friday unveiled the monolith to mark the launch of Oil India Limited (OIL)
funded CSR initiative for promotion of eco-tourism and enhance protection of Ingtanki National Park at Manglumukh
Protection Camp.
- Speaking on the occasion, the minister expressed gratitude
to OIL for funding the project with a noble cause. He also extended his
appreciation to the department for proactive role in getting the fund to promote
eco-tourism and improve the livelihoods of the people.
- He described Intangki National Park as the ‘bank of our
future’ because of its immense potential for eco-tourism. He said Intangki has
unique and beautiful landscape and the added advantage is the accessibility by
train, air and any mode of communication.
- He also emphasised the need to capitalised the strong social
capital, improve cleanliness and acquire other skills required to deal with the
tourism industry. He further urged the gathering to make the government a good
facilitator so as to help the people develop business linked with eco-tourism.
- Mhonbemo Patton, principal secretary of DEFCC, stated that
the CSR initiative for ecotourism was big programme for Nagaland and would open
up ways for other departments to chip in. He lauded the efforts put in by
different people to make the project happen and said that it is an opportunity
for the national park to showcase the rich and unique natural heritage.
- He called upon the people to support the efforts of the
government as working together is the only way to bring results.
- Dharmendra Prakash, PCCF and HoFF, talked about the
strategic location of Intangki National Park and said, “if only community and
the government work together harmoniously, there is unlimited potential for
nature tourism and will surely create our Intangki National Park a spot in
theeco-tourism map of the world.”
