A forest fire broke out from an electrical spark in Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary this afternoon triggered by strong winds in Kohima and adjoining areas.
However, the personnel of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services brought the devastating fire under control after nearly two-hour battle. Range Officer Keneikrul said, “The brave hearts had to venture into the thick rough terrain upto 200 meters to control the fire.”
“This has proved the capability of the personnel and the preparedness of the department to tackle disasters. The 12-member team was led by Lhouliebeizo Lezietsu, SI. F&ES.”
Earlier, in two occasions last month, the department played proactive roles in controlling forest fire when unknown miscreants set fire to the sanctuary, he said.The forest department expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. “The efforts of the residents and the employees of Belho Gas Agency Employees with fire extinguishers who played active roles in containing the fire are commendable.”
The Range Officer Keneikrul who was on the spot supervising the operation also expressed gratitude to Dr.Elivil Pusa and family for providing refreshment to all the people involved in the operation.
