Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): State Forest department organised an awareness campaign on conservation of nature, forest and wildlife at Noksen village community hall in Tuensang district on June 12.
Satya Prakash Tripathi, Chief Wildlife Warden, in his key note address, highlighted the importance of forest and wildlife in life by stating that the three basic needs of life namely food, cloth and house are met from forests. He also stated that forests address the issue of climate change, global warming, carbon sequestration, food, water, ecological security of a country.
He added that importance of forest and wildlife would not reduce at any interval of time. He appealed to the participants for inculcating habit of forest and wildlife conservation in their mind and act as the brand ambassador of the Forest department in spreading the message of nature conservation.
Nature conservation quotes were loudly read in English and Chang dialect. The participants were asked to follow nature conservation quotes in their life and spread it.
Altogether, 300 persons including 250 students from Noksen village 50 from Noksen village community namely the chairman/ members of the village council, GBs, DBs, teachers etc attended the campaign.
The programme was organised under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Community Reserve of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate, Change, Government of India, New Delhi.
The chairman of Noksen village council chaired the programme and welcomed the participants on behalf of Noksen village, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Serili Sangtam, Forest Range Officer, Longkhim.
