Forerunners, Kigwema Students’ Union in goal rush, Bayavü wins

Zhazoto Sale’s four goals helped Kigwema Students’ Union to crush Augury Club 8-0 in the second match and knock them out of the tournament. In the 70th minute game, Vichüto Phira gave the deserving lead in the 13th minute for Kigwema side. While Zhazoto Sale ran riot in the first half as he found the net in the 10th, 20, 30th minute to become the first hat-trick scorer of the tournament, he also added his fourth goal by converting a penalty in the 45th minute for Kigwema. The second half saw five-goal thrillers from Kigwema side as Shürhotolie Pfükha and Metsivilie Yhokha scored two goals each in the second half to complete the riot. With the win, Kigwema Students’ Union set up a clash with N.U Kohima Campus in the second round on October. Forerunners run riot Last year runners-up Forerunners 4th NAP Thizama opened their campaign with a nine-goal thriller and marked their entry into the tournament with a rampant win over Pezielietsie Colony 9-1. Mathew Kezhose scored a hat-trick as Forerunners 4th NAP Thizama knocked out Pezielietsie Colony in the last match of the day. During the match, Pezielietsie stunned the runners-up Forerunners with a lead from David in the 12th minute through a sloppy defense but the goal was a short stay as Orlando Orlando scored a stunner with a stunning long-range kick outside the area to level the score in the 18th minute for Forerunners. Mathew Kezhose of Forerunners went on to score a hat-trick, with his goal coming in the 28th, 46th and 61st minute. He also became the second hat-trick scorer of the tournament. Purakum scored two goals in the 33rd and 70th minute while Aloumei Panmei also contributed two goals in the 35th and 70th minute and Agou Lengthang added a goal in the 66th minute for Forerunners.Upper Bayavü defeated Wagers FC 3-1 in the first match to enter the second round of the tournament. During the match, Kimiyeto Assumi opened the scoring for Bayavu in the 25th minute to take the lead in the first half. The second half saw Vilazolie Rio scoring the second goal in the 46th minute for Bayavu but Wagers FC managed to pull a goal back through Benlo Kemp in the 48th minute. Upper Bayavü defeated Wagers FC 3-1 in the first match to enter the second round of the tournament. During the match, Kimiyeto Assumi opened the scoring for Bayavu in the 25th minute to take the lead in the first half. The second half saw Vilazolie Rio scoring the second goal in the 46th minute for Bayavu but Wagers FC managed to pull a goal back through Benlo Kemp in the 48th minute. With just 11 minutes remaining, Joseph Maram completed the treble for Bayavu in the 59th minute to finish the game. With the win, Upper Bayavu will now face Nagaland Police (Red) in the second round on October 3. On the second day of the tournament, 22 goals were scored in three matches, with Zhazoto Sale of Kigwema Students’ Union scoring four goals and Mathew Kezhose with a hat-trick for Forerunners 4th NAP Thizama.
