Kohima, August 25 (EMN): A late goal from Akum helped Forerunners’ FC secure a 1-1 draw against Nagabazar FC at the Kohima local ground on Friday.
The late point allowed Forerunners’ FC to move above Power Comm in 7th place in the league standing, having 6 points from 6 matches. While Nagabazar missed the chance to retain the top four with the draw as they sit in 5th place with 7 points and 4 points behind the league leaders United 16 FC.
Forerunners’ FC made the brighter start of the two teams and had the best chance in the first half when Keninguzo hit the woodwork with a curling effort. But a goal through midfielder Kameirang Kamei gave Nagabazar the advantage in the first half when his teammate’s shot hit the post and an unmarked Kamei headed the rebound into the back of the net.
Nagabazar came back stronger in the second half and made numerous attempts that resulted in a penalty but Ketholetuo Dzeyie shot the ball wide in the 65th minute. Razoulhulie Rosario Sote also came close when he missed a golden chance as he came one on one with the keeper but shot the ball wide.
Forurunners’ FC turning point came in the last minutes as Akum scored the equalising goal in the 87th minute to salvage a draw against Nagabazar FC.
Nagabazar FC had a hard luck in the match as the team looked threatening in the second half, talisman Kezhose went on close numerous times but failed to find the back of the net and the Forerunners escaped a narrow defeat.
A yellow card was cautioned to Anoto Kweho of Nagabazar FC during the match.
