Dimpaur, August 18 (EMN): The footwear dealers of Dimapur numbering around 22 have today written to the Administrator of Dimapur Municipal Council questioning the wisdom of the DMC to levy toll tax on the footwear items although it was already covered by GST.
"The footwear dealers have come to notice through the print media recently that the DMC will levy toll tax on footwear even after the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST). But as you are well aware that all taxes have been subsumed under GST," stated the press release from the footwear dealers.
The dealers therefore stated that the imposition of the toll tax would amount to "extra taxation" and "extra burden" on the dealers as well as the consumers.
They made an appeal to the administrator to "rethink about the matter" and revoke the order for the "general interest of all".
