DIMAPUR — Twelve constituent tribes of Nagaland Foot Hills Road Coordination Committee (NRHRCC) have threatened to pull out immediately from the Hornbill Festival if Nagaland government and PWD fail to issue a work order for the upcoming two-lane project within four days.
A press release issued on Monday stated that this decision was taken during an emergency consultative meeting held among NFHRCC members, Dimapur-based tribe hohos, and Young Nagas Action Committee for Foothills Road “on the issue of the upcoming two-lane construction project of the Foothills Road.”
“The Foothills Road is an extraordinary project or people’s project fully initiated by the Naga public. Therefore, no one whosoever it may, whatsoever position he/she may hold, cannot claim his/her supremacy over the project and if anyone tries to do so, will be doing it at his/her own risk.
“The alignments of the Foothills Road cannot be allowed to change or altered without the written consent of the NFHRCC and in the event if anyone attempts or tries to do so will face severe consequences,” the statement read.
It claimed that the department concerned had already given work assignment to the committee on October 28 this year.
“The same cannot be changed or altered by any authority whatsoever, failing of which the same can be treated as betrayal of the 12 tribal hohos, and for which the government/department will be held responsible for any eventuality,” it added.
