Foothill road: Tribal bodies seek adherence to work specifications

- DIMAPUR — In an
effort to bring the foothill road construction to a logical conclusion, the Ao
Senden, Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho have resolved not to let any contractor
undertake work under their respective jurisdiction without adhering to the
agreement of 2013.
- “To bring this foothill road to a logical completion, the Ao
Senden, Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho have resolved not to let any contractor
undertake any work under our respective jurisdictions,” an update from Ao
Senden stated on Wednesday.
- The resolution to this effect was affirmed made during a
meeting held on January 16, 2025, held in Mokokchung.
- The resolution made on January 16, 2025, in Mokokchung was
reaffirmed on February 4 in Wokha followed by February 7 meeting with apex
tribal organisations.
- In the meeting on February 4 with the apex tribal hohos, the
minister of PWD (R&B) has assured to hold meeting with foothill road
coordination committee.
- The Ao Senden has made this statement following inspection
on foothill road at Wati Lenjem (Yajang Junction) on Wednesday.
- The team found the work quality to be satisfactory. In this
regard, Ao Senden has expressed gratitude to Nagaland Chief Minister, Niephiu
Rio, and all the apex tribal organizations for initiative the foothill road.
