Kohima, Aug 6 (EMN): The football coaching camp for U-17 that will be trained by the International Coach, Sebastian Rassmusen got underway at the I G Stadium Kohima on Monday. The camp is organised by department of Youth Resources and Sports in collaboration with Soccer Competition.
The coaching camp will conclude on August 16.
During the inaugural programme, Zale Neikha, advisor, department of YRS in his welcome address said in commemoration of the yearlong celebration of legendry Dr T Ao, the football coaching camp is held as part of the centenary celebration.
Neikha requested the participants to give their best during the coaching camp and learn something. While also hoped that some of the players will excel from the camp and bring laurel to the state again.
Anenla S Longchari IAS commissioner and secretary, department of YRS said as a part of the celebration, the department of YRS under the leadership of CM Neiphiu Rio and Advisor, Zale Neikha felt that the young talents are given an opportunity by providing platforms to nurture their talent: “towards this vision, this short-term football coaching camp has been organised as part of the yearlong celebration of Dr. T Ao birth centenary” said Longchari.
While speaking about the international coach she said Rasmussen’s passion for football began at the tender age of 5 and his passion and love for the game only grew stronger.
He had to move from being a footballer to a full time coach because of a heart condition and this is where his dedication for the game escalated.
Sebastian Rasmussen, International coach while talking to this correspondent noticed that most of the players practice like street football, “we shall see the outcome” said the coach.
He said the kids should have fun, “I don't want to put pressure on them because I am an international coach, I want them to have some fun and learn”. On the ground condition coach said this ground condition is like Sweden during the winter time, but nowadays we have artificial turf for the winter games.
The organisers informed that around a hundred U-17 football enthusiasts including six footballers from the 12 districts, including Noklak are said to be taking part in the coaching camp.
Sebastian is a UEFA registered Grade-A coach who specialises in working with athletes U-18. He has been coaching professionally for 9 years and has several laurels to his credit. He has previously worked in clubs such as Karnby 1K and FC Rosengard. He has also been associated with Sporting Lisbon and is currently working in Sweden.
He is also the member of Soccer Competition, a German based scouting and Agent Company that specializes in scouting young talent and international sports management in collaboration with PBF India.
