Chilli powder added with ‘unpermitted colours’ seized at Supermarket, Kohima on Aug. 4.[/caption]
Dimapur, Aug. 4 (EMN): Continuing on with its campaign for ensuring food safety in the society, the District Food Safety Team carried out an inspection drive at T. Khel Market and Supermarket in Kohima on Sat. Aug. 4 2018.
A press note received here today informed that during the course of inspection drive, the team tested fruits, fresh fish, salted dry fish and chilli powder.
The team detected formalin in the fried fishes and harmful unpermitted ‘colours’ in the chilli powder.
Chilli powder sample collected from local vendor at both the market were found added with ‘colours’. in this regard, 15 packets from T. Khel market and 22 packets from Supermarket were seized.
The team even took samples of ‘salted dried-fish’ from Super Market which tested positive of being laced with formalin. Consequently, 850 grams of dried fish were seized, the press release stated.
Meanwhile, the designated officer, Dr. Ritu Thurr expressed appreciation to the Angami Youth Organisation officials, reporters from News 18, and Northeast Live Channel for rendering their presence and assistance throughout the inspection.
