Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): Food analyst of State Public Health Laboratory Kohima, Khrukutolu Veswuh, in a circular informed that Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) has been working towards having food testing laboratory in the public and private sector as well. He said it has also initiated a scheme to provide mobile units called Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) for food testing to reach out to consumers through as many touch point as possible.
The Food Safety on Wheels would execute the function of testing including surveillance and enforcement, training and creating awareness regarding Food safety, educating the consumers in various aspect of food safety laws and common hygiene practices in the state, Vesweh informed.
‘Food Safety on Wheels’ can also be used to transport samples picked from remote areas to the nearest food testing laboratory, he added.
In view of the mentioned above, the Nagaland Food Safety on Wheels would be executing food safety awareness and surveillance of common food adulterants in food items in Dimapur town on April 24 and 25th and in Peren town on April 27 and 28th.
