Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): A team of officials from the Food Safety establishment, administration and the Chumukedima Town Council inspected manufacturing units in Chumukedima town, in Dimapur.
‘The drive was mainly to create awareness for Food Business Operators (FBO) with the onset of the festive season,’ a note from the chief medical officer’s establishment in Dimapur stated on Monday.
They were told not to use newspapers for wrapping or placing finished food products, the updates stated. They also informed the FBOs to maintain hygiene both of the person and the premises of the business, the press release stated.
‘Improvement notices’ were served to the food-manufacturing units in the jurisdiction for necessary compliance under the Food Safety & Standards Regulation of 2011.
“Other food manufacturing units in and around Dimapur will also be inspected. Therefore, FBOs are informed to keep their premises in good hygienic conditions,” the note stated.
“Consumers are also requested to check the labels while purchasing food products. In case of any complaint, the consumer may approach food safety officials in the office of the chief medical officer, Dimapur.”
