DIMAPUR — As part of a concerted effort to promote food safety and hygiene standards, the Food Safety wing under Mokokchung Zone, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Office Longleng, is conducting hygiene and sanitation inspections of food business establishments across Longleng district.

The inspection, which began on June 19, is being carried out under the Hygiene Rating Initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), according to an update.

The initiative certifies food businesses based on their compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. The hygiene rating is valid for two years, after which a re-audit will be conducted.

The inspection process involves assessment of food safety compliance, infrastructure, cleanliness, and adherence to hygiene protocols, following FSSAI’s prescribed guidelines.

The current cycle of hygiene rating will cover both Mokokchung and Longleng districts and is scheduled to conclude on June 23.
