Food safety inspections underway in Longleng district under FSSAI's Hygiene Rating Initiative to improve hygiene standards in food businesses.

DIMAPUR — As part of a concerted effort to promote food safety and hygiene standards, the Food Safety wing under Mokokchung Zone, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Office Longleng, is conducting hygiene and sanitation inspections of food business establishments across Longleng district.
The inspection, which began on June 19, is being carried out under the Hygiene Rating Initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), according to an update.
The initiative certifies food businesses based on their compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. The hygiene rating is valid for two years, after which a re-audit will be conducted.
The inspection process involves assessment of food safety compliance, infrastructure, cleanliness, and adherence to hygiene protocols, following FSSAI’s prescribed guidelines.

It aims to encourage food businesses to upgrade and maintain better hygiene and safety standards. It also enables consumers to make informed choices when selecting food outlets.
The audit is being conducted by M/S Certification Services Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata, an FSSAI-empaneled agency. The inspection team is led by Food Safety Officer Sukumlo Yanthan, along with DEO Shingjei Phom, Media Officer Angshom Chemdok, and auditors from M/S Certification Services.
The current cycle of hygiene rating will cover both Mokokchung and Longleng districts and is scheduled to conclude on June 23.
