Wokha, May 7 (EMN): A truck transporting 269 bags of rice belonging to the state’s Food and Civil Supply department to Zunheboto district met with an accident at New Wokha village near Hammock Resort, in Wokha district at around 8 am on Monday.
The accident was reported to have caused from a technical failure on a hair-band turning before reaching Hammock Resort. Luckily, the driver of the truck and the handyman escaped unhurt.
A recovery van belonging to Wokha DEF was deployed initially to retrieve the truck which had fallen off the road.
But the continuing rough weather conditions coupled with incessant rain on Monday played spoilsport to the mission, and the truck could not be pulled till the filing of this report on Monday evening.
Also, it was informed that a truck carrying ‘rice stocks’ went off the road from the same spot last year during the monsoon season.
