Kohima, March 21 (EMN): “Folk Music Education”-- an undertaking for social expression, bridging traditional values with globalisation-- was launched at Kohima Institute of Music and Musicians’ Studio on Sunday in the state capital.
Atso Chasie, B.Mus.Ed, along with Temjen Jamir, coordinator of Kohima Institute of Music, and Kezevilie Zinyü, proprietor of Musicians’ Studio Kohima, jointly launched the programme.
Chasie, while speaking to Eastern Mirror, stated that the programme was initiated with an aim to promote and educate the importance of “Naga art and cultural values through seminars, music classes and research works of indigenous importance”.
Chasie is the inventor of the Gei-ü, a creative three-stringed instrument, and was also a finalist at Pune International Centre for Social Innovation 2021.
