Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The number of deaths caused by widespread flooding following incessant rains over the past few days in Dimapur has been confirmed to be two; it has also left thousands of people homeless.
Johnny Ruangmei, the officer on special duty of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, informed Eastern Mirror that a total of 16 villages in Dimapur district have been affected by the flood.
Ruangmei informed that relief camps have been set up in eight colonies.
He further informed that the water level in the rivers and colonies has receded and everything is under control.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in a tweet on October 27 stated: ‘Visited some flood affected areas of Dimapur which are severely affected. Incessant rain has caused flooding and landslide across Nagaland. NSDMA and all agencies concerned are working round-the-clock. I appeal to all to stay safe and lend a helping hand to those in need’.
