Diphu, Oct. 3 (EMN): Amri constituency remains in miserable road communication which lies inter-state bordering area with Karbi Anglong-Meghalaya and inter-district bordering area with Karbi Anglong -Morigoan District.
According to the report, Amselong subway bridge was washed away by the recent heavy rainfall on Monday night. The commuters are facing trouble to cross over the Amselong River, all the vehicles were stuck down in the middle of the road. Amselong River is located along the Nellie-Uluckunchi PWD road in West Karbi Anglong District. Amselong bridge is about 12 km long distance from Nellie (four lane National Highway). Since Amselong river fall in the hilly area, the flowing current of the hilly rainfalls bring havoc to bridge and washed it away. Nellie-Ulukunchi PWD road is the lifeline for the hilly region people. All the commodities were supplied or carried out from this road alone.
One of the commuter informed that due to the collapsed of the bridge people are facing trouble for movement and also vehicles coming down from hilly i,e Ulukunchi side were stuck down at Amselong River and vehicles coming from Nellie side were also stuck down at the same place. Moreover, the commuter also said that a concrete bridge have been constructed across Amselong river but due to the incomplete work of the bridge the hilly area people are facing problems.
The concern public has appeal the higher authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang and Local MLA Dr. Mansing Rongpi and local MAC D. Uphing Maslai to look up the matter within short time.
