Flamingos Cricket Club from Dimapur and Kohima Hornbills have become the ultimate teams to reach the grand finale of the ongoing 6th Silver Cup T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church Kohima under the theme ‘Peace and Unity through Cricket’.
The final match will be graced be played at 9:30 am with State Coordinator for Administrative Training Institute (DMC), Dr. Hovithal Sothu as the guest of honour.Playing the first semi-final match today, Flamingos CC Dimapur defeated defending champions Blue Star CC Dimapur by 6 wickets. Winning the toss the defending champs elected to bat but were restricted by Flamingos CC at 103 runs downing all wickets in 19.4 overs. Kundan contributed highest 32 runs and Deepak 19 runs while Flamingos bowlers Ritupan claiming four wickets and Jalal three wickets.
Chasing the target, Flamingos CC achieved it in 10.3 overs with Jalal scoring highest 36 runs and Abhinav 27 runs. Blue Star bowler Bashir claimed three wickets.
Jalal was adjudged the man of the match. The award was handed over by match patron and Principal of Baptist High Kevisetuo Israil.
In the second quarter final, Kohima Hornbills defeated Bashers CC by 98 runs. Electing to bat first, Kohima Hornbills set a huge target of 193 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Anga contributed highest 46 runs while Abhijit and Sanjeev made 42 and 41 runs respectively. Bashers bowler Suresh took two rival wickets.
Chasing the target Bashers managed to reach 93 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs with Oren contributing highest 20 runs. Kohima Hornbills bowler Abhijit claimed three wickets while Sanjeev took two wickets.
Abhijit was adjudged the man of the match. The award was handed over by match patron Debu Sunar.
