Acts 3:19
What causes us to turn away from the Lord? Don’t they come from the evil desires which battles within us? It is as it is written and the truth speaks no lies, it only depicts us as we are. The amazing truth about the Bible is that our every act, words and experiences are portrayed in it. Since the whole truths of the scripture are written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it is only by the Holy Spirit that we get to see the mysteries of the Word ( 1st Peter 1:21). “Sometimes I feel like the Bible is like a human “ was what my kid brother said and the wisdom which he spoke was also a fulfillment of the Scripture. (Matthew 11:25.26) The Word of God came into being to convict us of our sins and to save us fro our sins. It points us our sins and convicts us unto repentance which leads to life. Since there will be no salvation without forgiveness, forgiveness must be sought and deliverance must be desired. Knowing that the Word is also a consuming fire, at times in my moments of sin I feared to flip on to the pages which depicts me, myself and my sins. Every sin committed in our lives has its roots somewhere in us and the scripture points it our to our hearts. The Gospel of Mark states thus “For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery. Greed, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean’. (Mark 7:21-23) This speaks a lot of what some of our sins are and it clearly depicts the state of our mind. Sometimes in our waywardness, certain willful sins are committed and our hurts and woes multiplies with every sin we commit. In regard to the latest revelation I state in the truth that sin is not pleasurable; neither is it enjoyable but hell is eternal and will be torturous. The point is this: When we sin we may receive some temporal physical gratification in the flesh but we suffer so much in the spirit. Since it is us who sins, it is we who must confess. The temptation to sin comes when it comes and it is also by how we endure it which determines the outcome of it. We have to realize this that when temptation comes God can never be blamed. For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor will he tempt anyone. Often it’s the evils in us which makes us do the things we may regret. To this the Scripture states “… but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin and sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death. ( James 1:14,15 ) In another part of the scripture the word also states “Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusion”. ( Psalm 37:14 ) This is often the case with ourselves and since every sin has its consequences we suffer not as much as our sins deserve. The Word states “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and it also says there is none righteous; not even one. ( Romans 3:10,23 ). Yes it is true that our sins are higher than our heads and our guilt has reached to the heavens and it is we who must repent for the evils committed against God. (Ezra 9:6) Since sin is an act of offence against God, the state of our mind will be in turmoil as long as we live with the sins in us. Just as in Isaiah it is written “There is no peace says my God for the wicked “ ( Isaiah 57:21 ) The truth is even righteous people does wicked things as is evidenced in the scripture. The likes of David speaks a lot to us of what love and devotion is and of what unfaithfulness and adultery is. It is also startling to know that David who was known as a man after God’s own heart committed adultery with a wife who was not his. The result of his sins accounted in his own sufferings which he could barely manage to endure. However, the hardships he endured was God’s way of dealing with him so that he may be perfected in righteousness. Truth is most of us may or may not have sinned as David did but as sinners we are certainly conscious of how much we had sinned and offended God. From what we did we know what our sins are and it is only in repentance that our relationship with God gets renewed, revived and restored. This is what gives us joy when God’s flames of repentance leads us to tears which leads to salvation and leaves no regret. ( 2nd Corinthians 7:10 ) It is only when God’s fire of repentance burns in us, the anointing of the holy desires in us increases. In the truth we trust this great message on repentance will lead to greater repentance in the churches which are yet to truly experience it. Mark this, repentance was the first word Christ used in the first phases of his ministry and it is only through repentance that we can be reconciled to God. God is what salvation is.
