The fixtures for the 9th Capt. N. Kengurüse MVC Memorial Football Tournament in Kohima were announced, with 20 teams set to compete.

DIMAPUR — The fixtures and draw of lots for the 9th edition of the Capt. N. Kengurüse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament were announced at Chieswema, Kohima, on October 1.
The tournament is being organised by Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) under the aegis of Op Sadbhavana, Spear Corps.
According to an update, the announcement event was attended by K Neibu Sekhose, president of the NFA, along with the head of coaches and the head of referees, while team representatives from participating districts joined through video conferencing.
The tournament will take place at IG Stadium, Kohima, from October 22 to November 6. A total of 20 teams representing various districts of Nagaland will compete in 20 matches.

The opening ceremony will be held on October 22, with daily matches scheduled at 10 am and 12 pm and rest days in between. The third-place playoff is fixed for November 5, followed by the grand finale on November 6.
The event will feature a prize pool of INR 6.5 lakh.
It is aimed at promoting sportsmanship, discipline and youth engagement while commemorating the valour and supreme sacrifice of Capt. N. Kengurüse, Maha Vir Chakra.
