
KIPHIRE — Three government schools under Pungro block and two government schools under Khongsa aspirantional block in Kiphire district received books for hanging libraries during a programme held at EBRC hall in Pungro town on Tuesday.
Donated by Books For All (BFA), Noida, the collaborated initiative of Piramal Foundation (Aspirational Bharat Collaborative) and EBRC Pungro aimed to make children inculcate the love of reading books and improve learning outcomes.
Hanrenla, EBRC coordinator of Pungro block, while appreciating BFA Noida and Piramal Foundation, underscored the importance of inculcating the habit of reading among children to enhance their knowledge in language, vocabulary and creativity etc.
Stating that making the books available for children in their growing and developmental stage is important for their overall development, Hanrenla urged teachers to utilise the hanging library.
Lithsa from Piramal Foundation (ABC) expressed that the vision of instilling a reading culture, through a small library of books comprising mainly story books and rhymes, are targeted for primary and middle schools and wished that the collaborative initiative would sow the seeds of cultivating the habit of reading by the children.
Beneficiaries of the hanging libraries included GMS Pungro town, GMS Pungro village, GMS Penkim, GMS Zaonger and GPS Fakim.
