Manipur Police along with the help of various paramilitary forces arrested five cadres belonging to various UG groups from several places in the past few days, claimed a press statement released by the PRO of state police department.
According to the press release, a team of Imphal West Police Commando conducted a search operation on suspected houses on June 21 at Khagempalli Panthak area based on a specific information. In the search, the team arrested one active member of NSCN (K) organisation from a rented house in the locality. He has been identified as Sougrakpam Joychandra alias Joy (52), son of late Manglem of Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai. Apart from extorting money, he was involved in demanding contract works from various government departments.The next day in June 22, one over-ground member of PREPAK (PRO) was arrested in a search operation conducted by a combined team of Imphal West Commando and 40 AR at Kongpal Khaidem Leikai. The arrested member has been identified as Laikhuram Sachikumar alias Inao (43), son of late L Mani of Kongpal Khaidem Leikai. He was a former active member of UNLF organisation.
On June 23, a team of Imphal East Police Commando conducted frisking and checking at the eastern side of Khongnang Ani Karak, Chingmeirong based on a reliable source. The team managed to arrest one active member of PREPAK (PRO) from there. The arrested person has been identified as Md Nawaz Ahmed (27), son of Md Nazir Ahmed of Keirao Mayai Leikai.
On the other hand, a combined team of Imphal West Police Commando and 12 Bihar Regiment conducted frisking at Mayang Imphal Anilongbi near Pukhri Achouba on June 25. There, the team arrested one active member of KYKL organisation. He is identified as Khaidem Bijoy alias Nungshichaoba Singh (34), son of Kh Iboyaima from the locality.
Later on June 26, a team of Imphal West Police Commando arrested one member of KCP (Noyon) organisation from BT Park area, Imphal. The arrested person has been identified as Sagolsem Lokendro Singh alias Yambung (46), son of S Ibotombi of Sekta Awaang Leikai.
