Dimapur, May 7 (EMN): In an unprecedented incident, five houses were razed to ashes in a devastating fire which broke out at T/Chingkho village under Mon district on May 7.
Reports reaching here said the fire broke out around 11 a.m. when all the residents were off to attend Sunday service. While the actual cause of the fire could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report, it pointed out to electric short circuit for the disaster.
In all, five houses were completely gutted and properties worth Rs lakhs were destroyed in the fire besides rendering homeless to the residents.
Fire and Emergency Services, which was pressed into action, took almost an hour to douse the fire and prevented from spreading to surrounding areas. It was also informed that numerous houses were damaged in the process as a precautionary measure to prevent the fire from further spreading to other areas.
The victims were sheltered at the village church.
