Five govt. officials arrested by police in Mizoram

Aizawl, Aug. 29 (PTI): Five government officials including two women were arrested in Mamit district for their alleged involvement in the burglary of their office on August 23 night, a senior police officer said today. Superintendent of Police H L Thangzuala told PTI over phone that five officials of the Election office of Mamit district were arrested for their alleged involvement in the burglary of their office on August 23 night when all the forms duly filled in by Bru people in six Tripura relief camps were found missing. The SP said the police was interrogating the five officials at the Mamit police station. The burglary apparently took place on August 23 night and the district administration submitted FIR on the next night, he said. IElection officials who conducted revision of voters’ lists in the relief camps in North Tripura district returned on August 19 and began working on the genuineness of the claims by Brus lodged in the relief camps.
