Imphal, Oct. 27: Five state government employees including a woman who were arrested for allegedly preventing other government employees from attending their offices during the Manipur Government Services’ Federation (MGSF) sponsored mass casual leave on October 25 demanding implementation of the 7th Pay commission recommendation in the state, were reportedly suspended from their service, sources in Imphal said on Friday.
The source also claimed that the suspended employees are N Jugeshwor Singh(58), A Indubala Devi(52),M Iboyaima Singh(51),all from Imphal East district, P Shyamkumar (57) and L Deben Singh(54) both from Bishnupur district.
The suspended employees are said to be members of the MGSF which had been spearheading state government employees’ agitation demanding implementation of the 7th Pay commission recommendation in the state.
Meanwhile state Chief Minister N Biren Singh has urged the Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Unions’ Council and All Manipur Government Employees’ Organisation (JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO) to give three months time to the State Government to take up necessary steps and procedures for implementation of 7th pay as recommended by the 7th Pay Commission.
Biren’s statement was conveyed to a 15 member delegation of JAC headed by its President Khaidem Mani during a meeting in Imphal on Thursday. State Chief Secretary RR Rashmi and other senior officials were also present during the meeting which went for around one and a half hour.
Manipur government will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 1700 crore if the 7th Pay Commission recommendations are implemented, according to reports. The state has more than 74, 000 government employees.
