Dimapur, June 7: A fishery pond and percolation tank has been constructed under the MGNREGS at Tethuyo village in Kiphire. The facility was inaugurated on June 4 by Project Director of the district’s DRDA, Azenuo Pienyii. The project director also handed a certificate to the village council.
Azenuo Pienyu complimented the villages and the council of Tethuyo village for their support and cooperation to the project work. She appealed to the villagers to work collectively so that the project would not go neglected.The Block Development Officer of Longmatra, Longshen, said in his brief report said that the project was taken up after thorough analysis of norms and procedure of viability. He lauded Tethuyo village for ‘deserving to get the privilege of such special Project out of many village VDBs in the state.’ He mentioned that if the project could be ‘maintained properly, it could be one of the tourist spots in the area.’
Executive Engineer Ghoshito Sumi also said in a short speech that the village council should ‘implement various strategies’ to improve and maintain the project. It is also beneficial for irrigation purposes for the surrounding areas as well, he said.
