Kohima, August 5 (EMN): Secretary of Fisheries Department, Mhabemo Yanthan, officially inaugurated a fish kiosk in Kezekie, Kohima, on August 5 morning. The project construction of fish kiosk was funded under NABARD (RIDF-XX) during 2017-2018.
Mhabemo Yanthan, in his short speech, said the fisheries department desires to provide a clean environment to benefit the buyer and the seller and to set up fish kiosks in all the districts.
He also urged the department officials not to fall into oblivion with today’s inauguration but to go and interact with the sellers and buyers in order to provide necessary support and guidance.
Lauding the initiative of the owners, he stated that with this kind of small infrastructure, young entrepreneurs are supported to start a business. He hoped that entrepreneurs will stand on their own feet and also contribute something towards the uplift of the local economy.
Ketusielie Angami, Deputy Director of Fisheries speaking to this correspondent, said the department has successfully inaugurated 38 fish kiosks funded under NABARD (RIDF-XX) with the main objective to provide quality fish product to consumers and also promote local entrepreneurs.
It may be mentioned here that the department had proposed to establish modern fish kiosks in all the 11 districts under negotiated loan from NABARD with an aim to improve and modernise the fish kiosk/outlets. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned project for construction of 59 fish kiosks with a loan assistance of Rs 616.04 lakh under its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) in all the 11 districts of Nagaland. The construction of fish kiosks is being implemented by Fisheries Department, Government of Nagaland.
