Kohima, August 1 (EMN): The department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources in collaboration with Zatara private limited, a Dimapur agro based company has started selling fish in Mokokchung to sustain the demanding stock of fish in the town.
Speaking to Imtisunep Nokdir, Mokokchung’s district fishery officer, he said the department has extended their support to the incipient venture to local and private fishery owners by providing logistics and materials such as ice and vehicular transport for the farmers till the market place.
He disclosed that the fish were transported from Longpayimsen village under Tsurang valley in Mokokchung district and the rate of the fish were in compliance with the rate the Mokokchung Municipal Council has charted out.
He also said that more than 300 kg of the first stock brought to the mobile stall in the ongoing Tsungremong mini hornbill at Imkongmeren sports complex, Mokokchung has been sold out on the first day.
He also added that the department was prepared and ready to reach out to fishery owners in the district to assist in providing logistics and finding marketing options in the district.
It may be mentioned that Zatara is a Dimapur agro based private limited company established in the year 2013 which primarily deals in sourcing, manufacturing, packaging, branding and distributing local produce and products. They are currently growing fishes in 50 hectares in Longpayimsen village, Mokokchung district with future plans of expansion.
