Kohima, Sept.13 (EMN): The Cue Association of Nagaland will be organising the First Season Ranking Tournament, a snooker competition from September 26, at Area 51, Jail colony in Kohima.

Club Area 51, Q Lounge Club, Club 147, Atou Snooker Club, and Baulk Line Club in Kohima have jointly formed the Cue Association of Nagaland on August 11 last month with the intention to provide a platform for players to improve and boost their performance and also uplift the game of snooker.

Top eight players each from the five clubs will be competing during the two-day tournament.

The First Season Ranking Tournament will be followed by the second and third season in the month of January and May next year respectively.

At the end of the final tournament, the organisers will be sponsoring the top two players to represent the state in the national level tournaments.

Meanwhile, the association have also invited interested players from other districts in the state to be a part of the tournament. However, in order to compete in the game, a player should be a bonafide member of a club where they should also get clearance from their respective club’s president to take part in the tournament.

Briefing media persons during the press conference held at Club 147, Yanger, president of Cue Association of Nagaland said the five clubs within Kohima have come together under one umbrella and formed the association with the intention to give the game a quality and take it to a higher level while uplifting the players.

Yanger said the association will be pitching in coaches from outside the state to train the players so that a healthy competition will be created amongst the players

He said, if there was an increase in the number of participation and good-quality feed backs are received during the three seasons, the association would also organise the fourth season.
