KOHIMA — The golden jubilee celebration of the first religious profession of Rev. Sr. Aloysia Yanthan of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC), the first Catholic nun from Nagaland, was held at St. Mary's Church Lakhuti, Wokha, on December 17.
Rev. Fr. Ntonse John Lotha presided over the golden jubilee holy eucharistic celebration, which included contributions from various members, including Rev. Fr. Benjamin Chang and Rev. Fr. Mathew Rhanben. The offertory procession was led by the nun's relatives.
Following the eucharist, a felicitation programme was held to honour Sr. Aloysia for her dedicated service.
Sr. Aloysia, born at Lakhuti village, Wokha, to Shenponthung Ambrose Yanthan and Monica Yanthan, received her baptism at the age of nine on November 28, 1953. She began her journey as the first nun from Nagaland on December 8, 1974, after accepting the Catholic faith in 1951.
