Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): The first state nodal officers’ orientation workshop on gender-responsive budgeting was held on Nov. 15 at Hotel Vivor in Kohima. The programme was jointly organised by Government of Nagaland and UN Women, New Delhi and facilitated by Dr. Sanghamitra Dhar, expert to mission Gender-Responsive Budgeting, UN Women, New Delhi.
Altogether 24 departments participated in the first phase of orientation workshop and it was envisioned to share the know-how about the subject matter.
As per the release, the Government of Nagaland is committed to address the gender-responsive budgeting mandate of the Union government and is party to the GRB pledge wherein their policies need to be gender equal and encourage pro-women policies.
The team of gender nodal officers would aid in designing and formulation of gender-sensitive policies, schemes, or budgets for respective department. Besides, a Gender-Responsive Budgeting Cell has been constituted under the Planning and Coordination Department for the purpose, the release informed.
